Our multi-lingual, diverse team, with a combined experience of over 100 years experience of working with women from South Asian communities, and developing and delivering training packages both for organisations and in community-based learning settings.
Training for organisations working with the South Asian Community
We offer the following training packages:
- Training in Domestic Abuse Awareness Raising in South Asian Communities
- Training in Culture and Faith Awareness in South Asian Communities
Community Training
Our community training offer can be delivered in Bangla, Hindi or Urdu. Programmes are culturally sensitive to reduce barriers to training.
We deliver from our centre and free at the point of delivery to women in Tameside, and you are welcome to refer individuals. Please see our Women’s Basic skills, training and employment project (link) page.
We also offer bespoke packages for groups, delivered at your centre or other suitable venues in the following areas:
- Pre-entry ESOL
- Basic Computer skills
- Pre-volunteering training
- Confidence building training
- Travel training
All of our courses are practical, based on real world situations to build skills. We use a range of delivery and facilitation techniques to maximise engagement and cater for individual learning styles.
Our training evaluation captures the views of delegates and allows the opportunity to report the effectiveness and quality of the overall course, ensuring we are continually improving and enhancing our offer.
Meet the trainers
Rehana Begum has been with Diversity Matters since 2009, developing and managing our community development, volunteering and Community Arts programmes.
Rehana holds qualifications in Business Administration, Human Resources, Training and Coaching, Community Development, Community Interpreting.
Rehana is our Company Secretary and job shares the Chief Executive Officers role with Gemma.
Gemma Gaskell joined us in 2012, co-ordinating our Youth work programme, managing the Community Development Programme, and setting up and managing our Women Supporting Women Project.
Gemma holds qualifications in Psychology and Criminology, HR Management, Safeguarding, Enhanced Trauma Training, Community Development and Learning, and is a qualified Youth Worker and trainer.
