Project Overview
This project is designed to enhance the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of communities in Tameside that experience racial inequalities. Our approach focuses on removing barriers to engagement and improving access to culturally appropriate services.
Our Commitment
We support individuals accessing our services to overcome loneliness and isolation. Through weekly gender-specific creative sessions and intergenerational family activities, we create safe spaces for peer support. These spaces empower people to take control of their lives, access opportunities, and influence the development of future services—ultimately enabling healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Our Services Include:
- Promoting key health messages and improving overall health.
- Addressing social isolation and loneliness.
- Amplifying community voices to shape services.
- Enhancing cultural competency and fostering trust within communities.
Our Activities
We deliver a range of inclusive and culturally sensitive activities designed to promote health, well-being, and community engagement:
- Weekly Men’s Group (Hyde): A safe and welcoming space where men come together to socialise, enjoy board games, share a hot drink and meal, and discuss issues that impact their lives. Sessions include health education on topics relevant to men’s well-being, opportunities to participate in research, and collaborative planning of future activities. Members share experiences—both challenges and successes—while building strong peer support networks.
- Weekly Women’s Hub (Hyde): A vibrant community hub where women actively shape the programme of activities. Sessions feature physical activities such as badminton, Zumba, health walks, and cycling, alongside planning cultural and recreational trips to parks, museums, and other local attractions. The hub fosters empowerment, social connection, and improved health outcomes.
- Pop-Up Health Tents (Across Tameside): Mobile outreach initiatives aimed at raising awareness of key health messages and promoting access to services. These events provide practical information and resources to support healthier lifestyles within the community.
- Volunteer Opportunities: Join us in making a real difference in your community. We offer a variety of volunteer roles that allow you to contribute your time and skills to help deliver essential support to those who need it most. Your involvement ensures we can continue providing vital services and creating positive change
