What is it?
Our bereavement support project offers a culturally appropriate and multilingual provision for people from South Asian communities who have experienced loss.
Our dedicated staff and volunteers will go into community groups and raise awareness of what bereavement is, cultural aspects associated with loss and tools and techniques of how to cope with these emotions.
We have a Grief relief café where women can provide peer support to each other, share their experiences and coping mechanisms and engage in activities in a safe, confidential, and friendly environment.
This is a new programme of work and as we develop, we will be exploring 1-2-1 counselling support, and more work with Men.
We welcome suggestions from the community with regards to activities/ support which they feel would be beneficial when dealing with bereavement.
Project Aims:
- To raise awareness of what bereavement is within South Asian Communities.
- To reduce social isolation and loneliness to women who are experiencing loss.
