What is it?

TOG Mind, in partnership with Diversity Matters North West (DMNW), is proud to introduce the Bereavement Support Project. This initiative offers a culturally appropriate and multi-lingual counseling service to residents in Tameside from South Asian communities. Our services cater to individuals who speak Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, and Gujarati.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers are committed to raising awareness of mental health and bereavement within South Asian communities. This project complements the existing mental health services provided by TOG Mind, emphasizing the importance of cultural sensitivity and understanding.

The project encourages extensive use of referrals from partner agencies, as well as word-of-mouth referrals and self-referrals, making it accessible to those who need it.

Project Aims:

  • Provide effective individual bereavement counseling in a safe and local environment.
  • Raise awareness of mental health, including bereavement, within a cultural context.
  • Promote local services that provide support for bereavement.

Who is it for?
